Listen to Your Cheerleader
We need to take the time…yes, take———the———time———-S-L-O-W D-O-W-N and listen to our cheerleaders. If you don’t have at least one cheerleader in your life, then get yourself one. You may have to be a cheerleader first for this to happen, but it’ll happen. Look around your life. Maybe you have a cheerleader, and you’ve never considered that person for the job. Now might be the time. Maybe they’re doing it already. LISTEN TO YOUR CHEERLEADER!
My husband is my #1 Cheerleader. We’ve been married over 20 years and any project, opportunity, job…really anything I’ve taken on to do, he’s been right there as my best supporter. He’s read what I’ve written, edited what I’ve written, listened to my audio (recorded and live), complimented what I’ve painted, prayed for groups I was a speaker for, carried heavy things, been “amazed” at my latest creation, enjoyed my latest recipe, enthusiastically traveled on my my latest adventure, and encouraged me through it all. Thanks, hubby! I’m LISTENING TO MY CHEERLEADER.
If you’ve never had a cheerleader in your corner, maybe you’re not sure what one could do or why you’d even want one. A cheerleader encourages and also rouses the crowd. Much like a pointed tagline, a memorable slogan, a connecting elevator pitch, or a rousing sports chant - a cheerleader gets out a short clear focused message. A cheerleader can get the attention of those around you and lets them know your latest. The cheerleader doesn’t get caught in the weeds. The cheerleader punches out the main thing so others can be as excited as they are about what’s going on with you. They can prepare others to hear what you have to say. Invaluable. LISTEN TO YOUR CHEERLEADER.
If you are familiar with the Bible, you may remember the name Barnabas. Barnabas was a cheerleader. His real name was John, but the apostles also called him Barnabas, which means son of encouragement (Acts 4:36). He encouraged people around him wherever he went. Barnabas was the one who recommended Paul to the apostles after Paul’s conversion. Barnabas encouraged them to see the changed person of Paul as he had seen. Your cheerleader believes in you, maybe even more than you believe in yourself. LISTEN TO YOUR CHEERLEADER.
But wait a minute. You might be asking, “What has any of this got to do with me? I’m a VoiceOver Artist. I’m a mom. I’m busy. I have a career.” Me, too. And I need encouragement and cheering. Sometimes, I need to hear someone else say: “Yes, you can do this. Yes, you are doing this. And you’re killing it!” And to have someone else helping get the word out about what I’m doing…G-O-L-D-E-N. No matter what we’ve all got going on, we all need support. Now, go and listen to YOUR cheerleader.
